A private family funeral service was held Friday at Lakeview Gospel Church in Mt. Lake with Pastor Merwin Dick officiating.
Interment was at Delft Cemetery in Delft.
Sturm Funeral Home of Mt. Lake handled the funeral arrangements.
Clarence Baerg was born June 24, 1924, to David and Agatha (Krahn) Baerg on the family farm in Carson Township near Bingham Lake. He was baptized at age 18 at First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake.
In 1949, Clarence married Elizabeth "Betty" Heinrichs. They farmed and raised their three children north of Bingham Lake in Delton Township.
In 1975, they moved to Delft. Clarence worked at Roller Shield Manufacturing Company in Jeffers and then at Balzer Inc., in Mt. Lake for many years.
He also opened his own repair shop in Delft and collected scrap iron. Clarence had a gift for building things with steel and welding.
He also provided help to his children whenever needed and taught his grandchildren valuable skills.
Clarence had been a resident of Good Samaritan Village in Mt. Lake for the past six years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1986; a son, Allen, in 2007; and a brother, Edward.
Survivors include his son, Larry (Evelyn) Baerg of Morse, Saskatchewan, Canada; daughter, Linda (Gordon) Goertzen of Windom; daughter-in-law, Darlene Baerg of Bingham Lake; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
