Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend can meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Gladys was born on January 24, 1920, in Lost Nation, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Lousfield) Deppe. She married Francis Sanders. He preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Allen Dilley. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Gladys retired in 1998 as caretaker for the Annie Wittenmyer Complex, working from 1961-1999. She loved all of her children at work and at home. Gladys enjoyed bingo, dancing, singing, and outings with friends and family.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Sandra Nelson of Bettendorf; her sons, Francis (Elizabeth) Sanders of Davenport and Robert (Nancy) Dilley of Nashville, Tenn.; numerous garndchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Marlo; and her brother, Fabian (Cotti) Deppe of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son, Don Dilley.
