He was born on January 17, 1941 in Scott City, KS, the son of Paul and Mildred (French) Conine. He graduated from Scott City High School in 1958. His pride was being a farmer and stockman. He was a 4-H leader in Scott County for 25 years. He also was a Sunday school superintendent and a board member of Arrow Head West. He farmed in Scott City until his retirement in 2000. He and his family moved to El Dorado, KS. He enjoyed being a member of the El Dorado Senior Center and attending all their events.
On August 12, 1962, Merlin married the love of his life, Patricia Ruth (Moore) in Scott City, KS.
Those who survive are: sons, Keith Conine, Todd and wife Shelly Connine and daughter Paula Conine all of ElDorado; a sister, Janice and husband Dave Stockwell of Aurora, CO and sister Shirley, and her husband Ed Moynihan of Concordia, KS; and 3 grandchildern, Sierra, Zach and Travis Conine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mildred.
