She was born in Missoula on May 22, 1912, to Edward "Lew" and Maude (Sampson) Griffith. She came as an infant to Butte, where her father was the chief chemist for the Black Rock Mine of the Anaconda Co. She attended Butte schools, graduated from Butte High School and attended the University of Montana.
She married Frank Berryman in Missoula. In 1945, she and Frank opened the Berryman Insurance Agency. Frank died in 1960, and Llewella retired in 1986. She was the executive director of the Professional Insurance Agents of Montana for 28 years, was president of the Insurance Women of Butte, president of the Butte Soroptimist Club, president of the American Business Women of Butte, a member of Butte Chapter 30, Order of Eastern Star, Tirzah Temple Daughters of the Nile, and the Grand Cross Colors of Rainbow for Girls. She purchased the Leonard Hotel in 1969 and donated it to the Butte Rescue Mission in 1985.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Charlene Berryman, Butte, Jack Berryman, Vancouver, Wash., Clarke and Patricia Berryman, Woodburn, Ore.; grandchildren, Mark, Ric and Randy Berryman, LaDonn McEligott, Cheryl Lubick, Robert Berryman, Tammi Ball, Brandi Berryman, Noah Shawn Berryman, Shannon Leigh Radigan; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Lee McEligott, John and Ginny Berryman, Robin and Joe Ball, Morgan and Chase Berryman, Sydney and Joel Radigan.
