Funeral services for Mrs. Willa Thigpen Holmes age 89 of Burketts Ferry Road who passed away at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta Wednesday morning after an extended illness were held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Johns and Rev. C. G. Ward officiating.
Interment was in the Hazlehurst Cemetery.
Mrs. Holmes was a native of Soperton, Ga., and has resided in Hazlehurst most of her life where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late C.A. Holmes
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Eddie Ree McCrary of Atlanta, two sons, Jack Holmes and Dudley Holmes both of Atlanta, two brothers, D.A. Thigpen of Vidalia and J.L Thigpen of Savannah, a sister, Mrs. Dealvah Barwick of St. Simons, Island, Ga., four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Contributed by
