"Trucksville Soldier to be Buried Saturday"
The body of Pvt. Frederick "Ted" Loveland, formerly of Main Street, Trucksville, will arrive in Wilkes-Barre Friday afternoon and will be taken to the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals, 64 North Franklin Street. Private funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Howard R. Harrison, pastor of Shavertown Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, where Trucksville Post, American Legion, will have military rites.
Private Loveland, who was 27 when he was killed at Bohars, France, September 12, 1944, was born at Exeter May 4, 1917. The family moved to Kingston Township when he was a child and he attended school there. He was graduated in 1936 from Kingston Township High School. While in high school Loveland was an outstanding athlete. He played basketball and baseball, but starred in football. He was high scoring back in 1934 in both valley conferences and in 1935 captained the high school team which won the Back Mountain championship. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Snyder; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Loveland, Trucksville; one son, Frederick, Jr., Philadelphia: three brothers, Arthur, Berwick: Glen, Trucksville, and Wilbur, of Bethesda, MD.; also two sisters. Mrs. Mildred Reuben, Trucksville; Mrs. Richard Griffith, Berwick, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Loveland, Scranton. A brother, Corp. Raymond H. Loveland, died at Atlanta, Ga., January 8, 1945, following injuries received in an accident.
