Edna Doebber, 90
Edna Magdaline Doebber, 90, passed on May 1, 2012 at Diamond Willow in Alexandria.
Edna was born March 22, 1922 to Adolph and Elizabeth Schrum Middlestead in Forbes, North Dakota. She was one of 13 children. Edna grew up on a farm near Monango, North Dakota and attended school in Hamburg Township.
On June 28, 1948, she married John Doebber in Urbank. They farmed and were blessed with eight children.
Edna loved to garden, fish, quilt, sew, dance and enjoyed playing cards. She also loved cooking and baking for her children and grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her children, Florence (Dave) Bitzan of Millerville, Jan (Rick) Sahli of Miltona, Lucy (Pat) Bitzan of Millerville, Sue Bitzan of Eagan, Harley (Mary) Doebber of Eagan, Donna (Warren) Meissner of Millerville, Marlene Schlangen of Alexandria and John (Cari) Doebber of Woodbury; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leona Smith of Greenwood, Wisconsin and Mabel Middlestead of Jamestown, North Dakota; sisters-in-law, Marie (Mike) Lanigan of Alexandria and Sister Patricia Doebber of Frankfort, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1997; one grandchild, Kayla Bitzan in 1983; five sisters; five brothers; and four brothers-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Edna on Friday, May 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria with Father LeRoy Scheierl officiating.
Pallbearers were Darby Bitzan, Chad Engebretson, Tim Bitzan, Jeremy Bitzan, Dustin Doebber, Brittany Meissner, Makenna Schlangen and Jorden Doebber. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery.
