Elaine passed away August 17, 2008 at Twin Oaks. She was born October 25, 1924 in Richmond, Utah to Ray Cofford Lewis and Mary Emma (Hamp) Lewis. She was the fifth of ten children.
On April 2, 1945, she married Clifford Tovey Ashby in the Salt Lake City Temple. They adopted two fine boys, Eric and Michael Ashby. Cliff and Elaine raised their sons in Redwood City, where Cliff worked for the Redwood City Fire Dept. After his retirement, they moved to Chico to be near family.
Cliff died April 27, 2008. Elaine is survived by her son Eric (Cheryl) and three grandsons, Matthew, Duane, and Brandon. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Amy Mitchell of Nessa, Oregon, J.B. (Joseph) Lewis of Nessa, Oregon, Gladys Kessler of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tom Lewis of Key Port, Washington.
Elaine was a Boy Scout leader for 25 years and was active in the L.D.S. Church. She was a loving neighbor and friend. Elaine was devoted to family and had a beautiful smile that lightened hearts. Memorial contributions can be made to the Golden Empire Council of the Boy Scouts of America, to Alzheimers research, or to a favorite charity. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday August, 24, 2008 at Bidwell Chapel, 341 W. 3rd St. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.brusiefh.com.
