(Mariah Coonce); John H. (Rachel A. Barnett); Peter; Sally; Theresa J. (Foster); and Amanda.
"Old Callaway Resident Dead:
William Rice 69 years old died at his home in Southwest Callaway October 18. Funeral services were held in Union Hill Church at Holts Summit and burial was in the cemetery of that church.
Mr. Rice was born in Callaway County in December of 1849, and spent most of his life in this county. His wife Miss Susan Bryant who died some time ago. To this union, nine children were born, eight of whom survive. Mr. Rice became a member of Union Hill church when a young man, and lived an honorable and upright life. The Gazette extends sympathy to the bereved family"
