Carl G. Reese, 56, of 505 Eighth Avenue, Coralville, died Thursday at Veterans' Hospital following a long illness. Services are to be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home, with burial at Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Saturday evening.

Born Feb. 8, 1915, at Poole, Neb., he was the son of William and Kate Myers Reese. He was married on Dec. 17, 1943, at Brooklyn, N.Y. to Marjorie Fountain. He came to Iowa City in 1938 and for the past 15 years had been employed as a clerk for Crandic Railway. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, the Coralville American Legion, and had been an adult leader in Boy Scout activities.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Roy of Iowa City and Robert of Goldsboro, N.C.; five grandchildren; four brothers, Walter of Marshalltown, Edward of Kearney, Neb., Everett of Lincoln, Neb. and Arthur of Fairbury, Neb; six sisters, Alice Reese of Kearney, Neb., Mrs. Dorothy Heinzman of Newburg, Ore.; Mrs. Margaret Thompson of Coralville; Mrs. David (Ellen) Metz of Wood River, Neb., Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Kreutzer of Amherst, Neb. and Mrs. Gary (Loretta) Kiper of Ft. Worth Tex.
