Ray was Superintendent of Schools in Sloan, IA, Principal of American Schools in the Panama Canal Zone for several years, and a hardware store owner with his brother, Melvin, in Marshalltown, IA. He was a soloist for many occasions with his sister Elizabeth as accompanist. Upon retirement, Ray & Marjorie bought a large acreage in Marshalltown and had a large garden. They sold the place after several years and moved to El Paso, TX, where Marjorie's sister lived. Ray and Marjorie never had any children.
