Waynesville, Carolyn Mehaffey Bartram, age 64, of Meadow View Circle, died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Betty J. Mehaffey of Waynesville and the late Wilfred Mehaffey. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jack Mehaffey. She was a nursing assistant at Autumn Care for the past eight years. Carolyn loved to travel the country with her husband, Hank. As a young adult, she competed in barrel racing and was also a gifted piano, organ, and accordion player.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 16 years, Hank R. Batram; two daughters, Denise Henson and her husband, Reggie, of Waxhaw, NC and Stephanie Justice of Greenville, SC; three sons, Charles Justice of Greenville, SC, Darrin Justice and his wife, Jackie, of the Fines Creek Community, and Stephen Justice and his wife, Elizabeth, of Staunton, VA; three sisters, Sandra Cuzzort of Clover, SC, Barbara West and her husband, Ronnie, of Canton, and Patricia Rickman and her husband, Dennis, of Candler; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 prior to services.
