Leona was the only daughter of Lucius Marion Rose & Jennie Healy. She had 4 brothers - Ion Merle,John Litchfield, Harold Kenneth, and George Tennyson.
Leona grandparents were Levi(1826-1874)and Mary Amy Sherman(1825-1909)Healy. Her great grandparents were Joseph L Sherman and Phoebe Winslow Sherman. Leona was born on her great grandmothers birthday Mar 3. It was told that Leona was named Phoebe at birth but she did not like the name and changed her name legally to Leona. Her birth certificate was validated when she was an adult so at this time I can not validate this story.
At the time of her death she was survived by son, Marion E Scranton, Montoursville PA; brothers, John T Rose, Union City PA & George Rose, Spartansburg PA
Leona married Ford Wise Scranton on January 1 1908. Leona and Ford had one son - Marion Elwin "Bud". Leona and Ford moved to Wayne, Michigan before their son was born. She lived there until she married Kirk back in Pennsylvania. Her second marriage was to James "Kirk" Dowler on her birthday March 3 1951. Leona and Kirk retired to St. Cloud, Florida.
