ALPHA - A Celebration of Life Service for Norma R. Brandt, 91, of rural Alpha, Minn., will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Trimont, with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimball Township, rural Alpha, Minn.

Norma was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012, at Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church.

Norma Ruth Olson was born on Oct. 14, 1920, to Martin and Florence (Toedt) Olson in Waverly Township, Martin County, Minn. She was baptized and later confirmed at Waverly Lutheran Church. Norma received her education in District #82 in Waverly Township and later attended St. James High School graduating with the class of 1938. After attending beauty school in Minneapolis, she returned to the family farm and also operated a beauty shop in Truman. On May 4, 1941, she was united in marriage to Leo Nordhausen at Waverly Lutheran Church. They farmed the Olson family farm in Waverly Township until Leo died in 1965. She continued to farm and on Jan. 14, 1967, she was united in marriage to Hilbert Brandt at Waverly Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived on Hilbert's family farm near Alpha, Minn., in Jackson County. They farmed both farm together until they retired in 1983. Norma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont and the Waverly Garden Club. During their active golden years, Norma and Hilbert split their time between their home in Sun Lakes, Ariz., and the farm near Alpha. Norma led a life filled with bowling, golfing, dancing, singing in the choir, and golfing. She was an avid walker. Norma thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends. Norma moved to the Trimont Health Care Center in 2009.

Survivors include her husband, Hilbert Brandt of rural Alpha, Minn.; sister, Evelyn EO Lawrence of McAllen, Texas; niece, Wendy Ann Lawrence-Fowler (Richard) and great-niece, Adrienne Ann Fowler, great-nephew, Travis Martin Fowler, all of McAllen, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bud and Carol Brandt of Trimont, Minn., Vyrn and Agnes Brandt of Worthington, Minn., Vera Brack of Mankato, Minn., and Norman Shorts of Mt. Home, Idaho; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Nordhausen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Paul) Casey, Eunice Shorts, Laverle Brack and Merva (Bob) Carlson and other relatives.
