February 1950 — Ira and John Harrigfeld are on the Basketball Team. Playing forward on the North Fremont Husky basketball team is Ira Harrigfeld, a junior. His younger brother, John, a sophomore, is a guard. Ashton is the only team in the Sixth District Class A tournament that has been consistent. The Huskies squeezed out a victory over Teton but this was their only win in ten tries.


November 1953 - Ski Club Advisers. A mantle of fresh snow and the crisp early winter tang in the air had created a new spurt of enthusiasm for the North Fremont High School ski club, the "Dipsy Doodlers." Mr. and Mrs. Ira Harrigfeld are sponsors for the club this year. April 1961 - Officer. Ira Harrigfeld will assume the second vice president position for the Ashton Lions Club for the ensuring year. The club sponsors the annual community calendar listing birthdays and anniversaries of Ashton residents.


September 2010 — Passage. Ira Edward Harrigfeld, 77, of Ashton, Idaho, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.

NATIVE IDAHOAN. He was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Ashton to William and Frieda Kandler Harrigfeld. He was raised and attended school in Ashton. He graduated from North Fremont High School, Class of 1951. He married Lida Gayle Phillips on Feb. 4, 1952, in Twin Falls. They lived in Sun Valley, LaQuinta, Calif., and Ashton. She died July 9, 2000. He was a farmer and also worked for the Forest Service. In the winter, he managed the Bear Gulch ski hill. He loved skiing, hunting and woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his sons, Matthew (Sonia) Harrigfeld of Ashton and Ed (Jennifer) Harrigfeld of Parker; brothers, Fritz (Frankie) Harrigfeld of Ashton, John (Jackie) Harrigfeld of Modesto, Calif., and Chris Harrigfeld of Granite Bay, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Daniel Harrigfeld.

SERVICES: Funeral services held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashton. Burial, under the direction of the Baxter Funeral Home, was in Pineview Cemetery. —Published in Post Register on Sept. 19, 2010
