Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Apr. 18, 1940

Last sad rites were held Sunday at the City cemetery here for L. J. "Doc" Lincecum, who passed away Friday at his home in San Antonio. Mr. Lincecum was 74 years of age at the time of his passing.
Services were held in San Antonio Sunday morning, after which Rev. Kenneth C. Minter, pastor of the Methodist church here conducted a short but beautiful service at the cemetery at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. Minter brought an inspiring message of faith to the grieving relatives and friends who gathered at the cemetery to pay their last respects to Mr. Lincecum. Beautiful floral offerings which made beautiful the last resting place attested to the love and respect which those who knew felt for Mr. Lincecum.
Survivors include his widow Mrs. Bettie Lincecum, three sons, G. D. Lincecum of San Antonio, R. R. Lincecum of Richmond, and M. Lincecum of Houston; three daughters, Mrs. G. A. Jackie of San Antonio, Mrs. W. A. Parker of Brady and Mrs. M. A. Wheeler of Houston; a sister, Mrs. W. A.Cardwell of San Antonio; a brother, V. D. Lincecum, of West Columbia.
Mr. Lincecum was born June 26, 1865 in Independence, Washington county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Lincecum, both of whom preced3d him in death and are buried here . In 1899 he moved to Gonzales, staying here until 1908 when he moved to Goliad where he operated a mercantile establishment.
He moved to San Antonio seventeen years ago, and for nine years was employed by this city at Brackenridge Park, where he was a familiar figure.
Mr. Lincecum was married in 1891 to Miss Bettie Stubblefield. He was for twenty years a member of the Christian church and belonged to the Woodmen and Odd Fellows lodges.
He was a member of a pioneer Texas family, and served as a Texas Ranger many years ago. He was well known to many throughout this county, and his death brought sorrow and grief to friends of his family over a wide section of Texas.
