Mr. Manuel was born in San Antonio and lived in Lake Charles. He was a driver for Transwood Inc. and was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. He attended the Lake Area Worship Center in Westlake.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Karen Manuel of Lake Charles; two sons, William M. Manuel Jr. of Ft. Oglethorp, Ga., and Rene Dewayne Manuel of Portland, Ore.; two stepsons, Carl D. Granger and Roy S. Granger, both of Lake Charles; two daughters, Lydia Katherine Manuel of Midwest City, Okla., and Thelma Louise Manuel of Fairbanks, Alaska; one brother, Dewayne Manuel of Gasden, Ala.; one sister, Clara Dean Slade of Irving, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. W.H. Yarborough will officiate. The body will be cremated. Visitation is from 1 p.m. Thursday. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.
