Huger Nathaniel "Pete" Ahl, 81, of 511 Stumphole Road, Elloree, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at his home.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Burial will be in Double Branch Baptist Church cemetery in Orangeburg.
Pallbearers will be Dale Hathaway, Jeff Mitchum, James Hathaway, Currin Pounds, Donnie Bozard and Tony Bozard.
He was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Dorchester County, the son of the late Dewey W. Ahl and the late Alice Melissa Infinger Ahl. He was retired from Giant Cement Holding and was a member of Local 216. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Ahl, and two sons, Douglas Nathaniel Ahl and Steven D. Ahl.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret F. Ahl of the home; daughters Mrs. Dale (Shawne) Hathaway of Greer, Mrs. Jeff (Michelle) Mitchum of Orangeburg, and Sylvia D. Ahl of Cocoa, Fla.; son Eugene Ahl of Walterboro; a sister, Queenie Engleberg of Jedburg; a brother, Burnett Ahl of Ridgeville; grandchildren James Hathaway, Alan Hathaway, Jessica Vivito, Kayla Hathaway, Rebecca Pounds, Currin Pounds, David Traxler, Amanda Ulmer, Steve Ahl and Chasity Ahl.
The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at the funeral home.
