Her parents were William R. Ward and Susan Wethington. Her name on her birth certificate is "Pearl L. Ward". The 1920 census has her as Pearl Ward; the 1930 census has her as Selina Ward. She always went by Selina. Perhaps the "L" on her birth certificate is really a "S"???
She was the last child of 5 children. Her dad was a farmer, and her mom was a housewife. They were poor.
She had 3 daughters, Anna Louise Ward McKinney (1934-1988), Patricia C. Ward "Patsy" (1940-1954), and Donna Jean Landers (1952--). She married once to Edward Landers in approximately 1952. She moved to Louisville, KY in the early 1950's. In 1954, she moved to Lafayette, IN. She was on her way to visit her daughter, Anna, who lived in LOU, KY., when she was tragically killed.
Her daughter, Anna, was 20 years old, had a 2 yr old child, and was 8 months pregnant when her mother and sister were killed the same day. Selina was in a vehicle with her husband, who was driving. At 10:45pm the vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a semi-type 18 wheel truck. The collision killed Selina. She suffered a broken neck and was killed instantly. Her 14 year old daughter, Patsy, was transported to a local hospital in Lebanon, IN where she died hours later from injuries from the collision. Survivors from the crash were Selina's husband, Edward Landers and their 2 year old child, Donna Jean Landers. Selina suffered many hardships in her life. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Unfortunately, her husband did not provide a tombstone for her.
