Frederick John Augsburger, age 83 of Chilton died on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his home. He was born December 20, 1924 in Fond du Lac, son of the late Frederick & Dora (Geve) Augsburger. John graduated from Fond du Lac High School and attended UW River Falls where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He later earned his Masters Degree in Science Education from the University of New Hampshire. He taught Chemistry and related sciences at the Chilton High School from 1955 until retiring in 1987. John was a proud Navy Veteran and served in the South Pacific during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Ebenezer UCC in Chilton, the Chilton Eagles Club, the VFW and was a past member of the Jolly Fishing Club. John enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting, fishing, music, reading and good food. Survivors include his wife: Eleanor; a daughter; a son; 3 grandchildren; a sister: Ruth Sussex of Muscatine, IA. John was preceded in death by a sister: June Stewart who resided in Phoenix. Funeral service will be at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Kathy Gloff officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 when services will be held. A scholarship memorial fund has been established in the name of Frederick John Augsburger for Chilton High School.
