RODNEY HAROLD BUTTERFIELD; LINCOLN - Rodney Harold Butterfield, 74, husband of Shirley (Tripp) Butterfield, passed away at a Lincoln hospital, Aug. 20, 1999, shortly before midnight, surrounded by his family, after a long fight with cancer. He was born in Lincoln, July 21, 1925, the son of Annie (Gray) and Kenneth Butterfield. Rodney was a veteran of World War II, and was a life member of VFW Post 1438. During the war, he received the Good Conduct Medal, five Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. He lived on the Enfield Road for years and worked at Lincoln Pulp & Paper for 43 years. Rodney was an avid outdoorsman and loved to drive the scenic route. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Shirley, he is survived by four children, Carol (Butterfield) and her husband, Henry "Skip" Przelomski of Florida, Dawna (Butterfield) and her husband, Melvin Voisine, David Butterfield and Lisa Butterfield, all of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Alan Przelomski and his wife, Shannon of Florida, Emily (Voisine) and her husband, Derek Rideout of Lee and Cory Voisine and his fianc‚e, Terin Applebee of South Portland; a great-grandchild, Austin Derek Rideout of Lee; a sister, Arlene (Butterfield) Flower of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Galen Butterfield and Margaret (Butterfield) Theriault. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Clark Osborn officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Lincoln Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 52 Federal St., Brunswick, ME 04011. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, Lincoln.
