FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. — Catherine R. Grossell, 80, of Fountain City passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis.
She was born in Duluth, Minn., on Aug. 9, 1931, to Carl and Ruth (Hodges) Hedberg. On May 4, 1953, Catherine was united in marriage with Donald C. Grossell, at St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fountain City; he preceded her in death Aug. 14, 2011.
Catherine was employed as a bookkeeper for 45 years with H & F Roettigers in Fountain City. She was a member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fountain City. Catherine and Don enjoyed rides in the country, dancing and going out to eat. She also liked to go bowling and to socialize.
She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, but she especially took great pleasure in being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by her son, Tom (Marie) Grossell, Fountain City; daughter, Jacqueline (Bruce) McFarlin, Buffalo City; grandchildren, Travis (Jenni) Grossell, Fountain City, Alicia (special friend, Kris Ames) Grossell, Onalaska, Wis., Lori (Carl) Dahl, Alma, Wis., Matthew McFarlin, Buffalo City, Wis., and Katie McFarlin, Buffalo City; a great-grandson expected in July; sister, Ferol (Dale) Baertsch, New Brighton; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fountain City.
The Rev. Elroy V. Conradt will officiate.
Catherine will be laid to rest at the Fountain City Public Cemetery.
