Arthur Dennis Boone, 86 of Moneta, formerly Vinton, passed away on February 23, 2012, after a brief illness, in Homestead, Fla.
He was born in Franklin County, Va. on August 29, 1925, a son of Cline and Maggie Boone, of Wirtz. Mr. Boone was one of 14 children and was raised in Franklin County. Later he was employed with the State of Maryland for several years in Rehabilitation in Sykesville, Md. until he retired and returned to Vinton, Va. He was a member of Vinton Church of the Brethren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mattie Lowe Boone, his two children, Rena and Ray Boone, and his second wife, Rowena Angle Foutz Boone. Also, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and four sisters, Ena Miller, Ruth Garber, Ruby Taylor, and Lydia Rutrough.
Mr. Boone is survived by eight siblings, Dorothy Layman, Susie Bowman (Ezra Lee), Samuel Boone (Eva), Ezra Boone, Joel Boone (Phyllis), Riley Boone (Judith), Dora Austin (Marion), Roy Boone (JoAnn); and one brother-in-law, Albert Rutrough; three stepchildren, Glenda Howell (Ronald), Gerald Foutz (Alice) and Gene Foutz (Tammy); six stepgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, with Pastor Roy Heinlen officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, Md. 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012, where he will be laid to rest beside his first wife and children. The family will be receiving friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 North @ Wirtz Road, Rocky Mount, VA.
