Graham McClung Buhrman, Sr. was the second son of Joseph Benson Buhrman and Sarah Elizabeth Lemon, born in Gala, Va. on June 8, 1883.

He married Ellen Norwood Price of Gala, Va. on Nov. 2, 1918.

In 1903, he graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Mechanical Engineering. He taught at V.P.I. for two years. He worked for Rand Gold Mining Company, Johannesburg, South Africa. He operated a canery in Gala, Va. as well as several farms. He held the Presidency of Eagle Rock Bank, Inc., (which his father established in 1905) where he worked for several years.

Graham and Ellen had 5 sons: Graham McClung Buhrman, Jr., Joseph Benson Buhrman, II, Robert Parker Buhrman, Charles Nettleton Buhrman, and John Price Buhrman.

The Graham McClung Buhrman home is located on the right side of Route 220 North of Eagle Rock, and is known as "Buhrman Farms". The home, a large house on a hill overlooking the James River, it is now the home of Joseph B. Buhrman II.

Graham McClung Buhrman passed away on March 4, 1952 at the C&O Hospital in Clifton Forge, Va. following a stroke.

Graham M. Buhrman, prominent James River farmer and President of the Eagle Rock Bank, died in the Clifton Forge Hospital about 9:00 pm Tuesday night after a few hours illness.
Widely known, he was a active in business and civic affairs. He had spent his life in his home community in Gala. He was a son of the late J. B. Buhrman, former Treasurer of Botetourt County, and a member of the legislature.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ellen Price Buhrman; 4 sons, Graham M. Jr. (Eagle Rock); Joseph B. (Radford); John (Roanoke); and Charles (Lynchburg); two sisters, Mrs. C.B. Nettleton (Clifton Forge) and Mrs. Gardner Royce (Coral Gables, FL); and a brother, Parker Buhrman (Washington D.C.).
Funeral will be today at 3:00 pm at the Bethel Methodist Church. Burial in the church cemetery.
