Daniel Bryan Benton, 36, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Frye Regional Medical Center. His loving wife, Sarah, was by his side as he drifted off to be with the Lord. He was born March 11, 1975, to Gaylon and Barbara Wells Benton of Birmingham, Ala. Bryan graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a business degree and was employed as a branch manager for Enterprise of Hickory. During his years at Lenoir-Rhyne, Bryan played football. He was full of life, loved his family, including his dog, Macey, and enjoyed spending time on the lake. He was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
By far, Bryan's greatest passion was his wife, Sarah, and their unborn son. In addition to his parents, Bryan is survived by his wife, Sarah Casteele Benton; his unborn son; two brothers, Michael Benton and his wife, Alica, of Baton Rouge, La., and Stephen Benton and his wife, Kelly, of Birmingham, Ala.; his grandmother, Myrlene Benton of Headland, Ala.; a niece, Maddie Benton of Baton Rouge, La.; his father- and mother-in-law, Jim and Sherry Casteele of Pulaski, Va.; and his brother-in-law, Brent Casteele of Blacksburg, Va.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Hickory First Assembly with Pastors Gaylon Benton and Terrie Sternberg officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Hickory. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., prior to the services.
