Brother Ladislaus William (Robert Koutsky) was born in Winona, Minnesota and entered the Novitiate in 1938 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on May 26, 1981, at the age of 61 in Marine-on-St. Croix, Minnesota, and is buried in Winona in St. Mary Cemetery. He was Visitor of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Robert Koutsky was born the fourth son of Alois and Josephine Rivers Koutsky on April 18, 1920 at Winona, Minnesota. Robert graduated from Cotter High School in Winona in 1938, then under the direction of the Christian Brothers. Following graduation, he entered the Novitiate at Glencoe, Missouri on June 20, 1939, and in August received the habit of the Brothers and the religious name of Brother Ladislaus William. He entered the Scholasticate at St. Mary's College in his native Winona and completed his BA degree in 1942. That same year he received his first teaching assignment at St. Mel High School in Chicago but one year later found himself assigned in Evanston, Illinois, at St. George High School. Brother L. William remained there for seven years before being assigned to Cretin High School close to home in Minnesota. He was assigned to help open St. Francis High School in Wheaton, Illinois, in August of 1957 but a year later he was assigned to Pacelli High School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, in 1960. Brother William was appointed Assistant Principal at De La Salle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but did not let his administrative duties deter his continued love of dramatics and student productions. Three years later he was appointed Director of Grace High School in Fridley, Minnesota, where he remained until 1971 when he was elected third Provincial of the new Winona Province. He was reelected to a second term to lead the District, but upon completion became Director of Dunrovin Retreat House at Marine-on-St. Croix, Minnesota, a position he held until his death by a heart attack in October of 1981. Brother L. William was sixty-one years old, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for forty-three years.
