Robert was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Robert Edmondson McCall and Mary Lola (Clark) McCall. He graduated from Waco High School in 1945 and, as a member of the Greatest Generation, joined the U.S. Army for the last few months of World War II. After his service in the Army, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years. Following his military service, Robert earned a degree in Radio and TV technology from Dallas Vocational School. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in 1987. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and the Disabled American Veterans. Robert enjoyed traveling, cruises, and especially, quick trips to Elko and Wendover. He was a rare man who loved mowing his own yard at home. He enjoyed time with his wife, son, grandson, and beloved cats and dogs.
Preceding him in death was his sister, Thelma; and brother-in-law, Joe D. Campbell, of Waco.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lucas McCall, of Waco; son, Ricky Wayne McCall, of Garland; grandson, Nathan Wayne McCall, of Garland; cousins, Dorothy Adkins, Montez Clark, James Russell Clark and wife, Christie, all of West; and his much loved cat, Penny, who watched over him faithfully in sickness and health.
