Col. George W. Parker, 91 years old, of the Seventy-Ninth Regiment, Indiana Volunteers, Infantry in the Civil War, died Tuesday evening at the home of his son, Clinton Parker, in Pendleton, with whom he resided.
After the close of the war, Col. Parker located at Indianapolis, where he was elected sheriff of Marion County, serving two terms, from 1866 to 1870. He was also superintendent from 1900 to 1910.
Besides his son Clinton, he is survived by another son, Fred K. Parker, of Indianapolis. Col. Parker’s wife died nearly two years ago.
