Leonard Joseph Accardo PORT ARTHUR - Mr. Leonard Accardo, 87, of Port Arthur went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 6, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Lecompte, Louisiana; born on August 24, 1921 to parents Charley and Mary Messina Accardo. He was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur since 1939. He had served his country during World War II in the Navy as an Aviation Radar Technician. He received a letter of special commendation from Admiral Forrestal for his radar detection of Japanese warships. He was owner and operator of Leonard's TV Sales and Service from 1951 until 1985 when he retired. He was a charter member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Accardo; sisters, Caroline Maranto and Theresa Accardo. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edna "Terry" Accardo of Port Arthur; his children, Diane Caldwell and her husband James of Acworth, GA, Terry Boudreaux of Nederland, David Accardo of Village Mills and Lori Trosclair and her husband Tommy of Hemphill. Mr. Accardo was blessed with the joy of his six grandchildren; Shelly Porter, Todd, Steve, and Lynn Caldwell, Dwayne and Bradley Boudreaux; seven great grandchildren; Shawn Caldwell, Jessica, Cody and Dylan Porter, Austin Caldwell, and Coleton and Haley Boudreaux. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2009 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A Christian Burial Service will be held Monday at the funeral home at 3 p.m., with Rev. Stephen McCrate officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
