William Henry Baldock was born Feb 28, 1828 in Lincolnshire, England. He married Mary Tointon sho was also born June 6, 1830 in England. William came to the Powder River Valley in 1862. He and Mary settled land just west of Flagstaff Hill, where the Oregon Trail hits the valley floor. Baldock Slough, which runs through the property was named for him. He died Jan 12, 1907 in Baker City, Oregon.
