He was born in Mount Pulaski Nov. 5, 1903, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Weckel Romer. He was first married to Dorothy Davis of Lincoln, who died Sept. 25, 1957. He married Concetta Bartolozzi Aug. 29, 1959.
She survives, together with six sons, Thomas, Bloomington; James and Robert, Mason City; Steven, Richard and Joseph, Mount Pulaski; two daughters, Mrs. Joan Suycott, Blandinville, and Miss Lynne Romer, Mount Pulaski; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Connolley, Mount Pulaski; Mrs. Florence Schroth, Decatur, and Mrs. Mabel Muller, Chestnut; and one grandchild.
He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus at Lincoln.
