Benito was a lifelong resident of Casa Colorada, New Mexico and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Benito was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country overseas for five years, mostly in India.
Benito loved to ride horses, labor in his garden and play with his dogs.
Benito was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Prescilla Gurulé Benavídez in 1992 and his son-in-law, Fermin Chávez in 2001.
Benito is survived by his children, Rosemary Chávez, Boleslo Benavídez, Rudy Benavídez and his wife, Lorraine, Mercy Benavídez, Adela Luna and her husband, Fidel, Joanne Gutiérrez and her husband, Michael, Ted Benavídez and his wife, Mary and Dennis Benavídez, 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, Arturo Benavídez and his wife, Corrina of Barstow, CA. Benito is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Casa Colorada with Interment in Casa de Colorada Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Benavídez, Richard Gutiérrez, Gerald Flores, Andrew Chávez, Ruben Flores and Joe Tarin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Martin Kirtley, Jessica Benavídez and Dianne Montoya.
