Clarence Castner was born February 14, 1900 in Dresden Center N.Y. to Thomas and Elizabeth Castner ,His mother died shortly after childbirth of a sister on February 16,1905. The four remaining children were placed in an orphanage in Canadaigua N.Y. Clarence sister Vera, was taken from the orphanage on December 17,1907. The tree boys including Clarence were received by the Children Aid's Society on October 16, 1908 and placed on a orphan train. The three boys were taken by families in Madison Nebraska. Clarence and Albert, his brother were taken by the John Reigle family. Clarence graduated from Madison High School and attended the University of Nebraska.Clarence started a banking career in Madison. He married Dorthy Hall in Sioux City Iowa in 1923. Clarence came to Sidney in 1952 and organized and opened the Sidney National Bank and was it's executive vice-president.
