Martha G. Casey Bunge passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 2:30 a.m. She was born in Iberia, Mo. on March 24, 1916 to Clarence and Cora Adams Casey.

After attending Iberia Elementary School and the Iberia Academy and Jr. College, she received her Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in piano, from the Conservatory of Music of Kansas City, Mo. in 1938. She taught public school music for three years, but most of her music career was spent teaching piano privately.

In 1940 she was united in marriage to Walter Edward Bunge, son of Dr. and Mrs. C.A. Bunge of Bland, Mo. They celebrated sixty years of marriage until Mr. Bunge's death, Jan. 18, 2000.

They moved to Springfield, Mo. in 1947. She was a member of University Heights Baptist Church and participated in all the musical activities. She was a former member of Piano Teachers' Forum, the Sweet Adelines, and the Civic-Airs.

She is survived by a son, Eddy Bunge and his wife, Suzy; three grandchildren, Mark Bunge and his wife, Tina, and Michelle Bunge; a great-grandson, Michael Steven Bunge; a brother, George J. Casey, all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; her beloved younger son, Michael Casey Bunge; her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. L.A. and Juanita Taylor, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Omega Casey.

A graveside service will be conducted at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Martha leaves behind a wonderful legacy of students, many of whom have gone on to successful professional piano careers. She loved her family, she loved her music and she loved her many friends.
