He attended rual elementary school, and graduated from the 8th grade. He then attended SD State College in Brookings, South Dakota where he took a 5-month Agricultural course.
Louis was married to Sarah Louella Stangeland, daughter of Nels and Anna (Johnson) Stangeland on June 17, 1925 at Lvuverne, Minnesota. Sarah was born October 17, 1896 in a small wood framed house near Lismore, Minnesota. This house was moved to the Nobles County Pioneer Village at Worthington, Minnesota, where it was restored and now contains many family pictures.
Louis and Sarah were parents of three children: Leroy, married to Berta Tucker; Ardis, married to Shirley Wahlen; and Lavon, married to Joe Mize.
Louis was charter member of the Aasby Local #360 Farmers Union , organized in 1921. He served on the Township Board and School Board and was Township Assessor. He and Sarah were members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Highmore.
