Guido J. Dinucci, beloved husband of Lucy Lenge Dinucci and retired owner of Lane & Lenge Florist of West Hartford, died Thursday (January 19, 2012) at the age of 90. He was born in Milford, MA and moved to Hartford with his family in 1928. Mr. Dinucci, a long time resident of West Hartford who enjoyed a second home in Fort Lauderdale, FL, was raised in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1940 where he was captain of the football team.

He went to college but left to serve for 4 years with the Army, enlisting after the Pearl Harbor attack. Mr. Dinucci fought in the Pacific with the Americal Division during the war and ultimately served with the Army of Occupation in Japan. He left the service in 1946 as a decorated sergeant.

In 1947, he married Lucy Lenge and joined the family business, Lenge Florists. For over 70 years, Mr. Dinucci led the business to prominence in Hartford and beyond, acquiring two other businesses and ultimately creating Lane & Lenge Florists. During his career he won awards for his design work with Lane & Lenge regularly being voted Best in Hartford. He was active in downtown Hartford business as a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Other organizations he was active with included Boys Town of Italy, Lions Club, and UNICO. He belonged to the Old Guard and was long standing member of the Hartford Club, an avid golfer and a member of the Farmington Country Club for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucy Lenge Dinucci, and his three children and their spouses, Phyllis and Frank Dinucci of Wilton, CT., Lori and Gavin Kahn of Wynnewood, PA., Gretchen and Robert Dinucci of West Hartford, and six grandchildren Dr. Daron Kahn, Ashton Kahn, Frank Dinucci Jr., Ted Dinucci and wife Becky, Tyler Dinucci, John Dinucci his sister Lillian Ambrose and sister-in-law Sue Dinucci.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 3-6 p.m. at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 S. Main St., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Contributions to his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
