He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Della Phillippi Reece; daughter, Marjorie Outlaw, and husband Bruce of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; son, Luther ‘Bud' Reece and wife Marian of Sharps Chapel, TN; grandchildren, Lisa Andrews of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Amy Bright and husband Randy of Dover, DE and Jon Reece of Cocoa Beach, FL; great grandchildren, Ryan and Hunter Andrews and Hayden, Garrett and Lauren Bright and many nieces and nephews. Special friends include, Rhonda Reece, Earl Greer, Harvey Burniston, Joe Widner, Maurice Widner, Lynn Courtner and Steve Reece.
The family received friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home.
Funeral service was conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Minister Buddy Morefield of Appalachian Church of Christ officiating.
Graveside service and interment with military honors followed at Phillippi Cemetery and were accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Harvey Reece, E.J. Reece, Joe Reece, Barry Reece, Quint Reece and Bill Reece.
Honorary pallbearers were Carl Williams, Offie Hayworth and Nelson Gray.
