Loved Her Lord and Her Family
Frances Arlene Brown, 74, of Stall Branch Way in Clyde passed away Friday, November 4, 2011.
Mrs. Brown was born December 23, 1936 in Clay County to the late Mont Reece and the late Mollie Ledford Reece. She attended Young Harris College in Georgia and received her teaching degree from Western Carolina University in 1959. Mrs. Brown had been employed as a high school math and social studies teacher in the counties of Madison , Haywood, Cherokee and Clay. She also played an important role in the formation of Thickety Christian School where she served as a charter teacher. Mrs. Brown had made her home in Haywood County for the past 34 years and was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and was a devoted and active member of her church serving as a Sunday school teacher, song leader and church treasurer. Mrs. Brown was an excellent cook, loved to spend time in her vegetable garden and was a talented seamstress. Together, she and her husband often enjoyed taking scenic drives and one day trips. Arlene deeply loved her family and she and her husband made a wonderful home for their children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Gene Brown and a sister, Bernice Beavers.
Surviving are her loving husband of 48 years, Doyle L. Brown ; a daughter, Darlene Medford of Garner,NC ; a son, Paul Brown of Clyde; four grandchildren ; sisters, Corena Bettis and her husband, Charles Bettis of Warne, NC , Lois Ruff and her husband, Irv Ruff of Murphy and Audrey Prater and her husband, Mike Prater of Snellville,Ga.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 7, 20110 at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The Reverend Wayne Carson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, 79 Stall Branch Way, Clyde, NC 28721.
