John Matthew Presson
Rev John Matthew Presson died at his home in East Prairie Monday night October 21, after an illness of several weeks, at the ago of 79 years. The immediate cause of his death was typhoid lever and complications. He was born in Benton County, Tenn. and came to Missouri in 1873, staying near Bertrand for four years, when he went back to Tennessee. Later he came to Missouri and remained here until his death. He was ordained to preach In Tennessee and was pastor of many Baptist churches throughout this section. He leaves a widow and one son, Chas Presson, of Henderson Mound, and three daughters: Mrs John Givens, Mrs James Blackman and another. The burial was at Dogwood cemetery Tuesday.
