Mrs. Louise W. Ackman, 602 Penny Ave., died Sunday at her home. She was 72 years old.

The former Miss Hesse was born at Neelys Landing Apr. 14, 1910. She was married Nov. 24, 1924 to August E. Ackman who died in 1970.

She lived in Cape Girardeau most of her life and was employed as a cook at the Palmer House Restaurant for 10 years, then Baker's Big Burger and finally at the Greek Housing Complex on SEMO State University campus until her retirement in 1975.

Mrs. Ackman was a member of Red Star Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Gary Ackman, Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Mrs. Sharon Chapman, Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Mildred Hitt, Gordonville, Mrs. Velma Shepard, Whitewater, Mrs. Zeta Simms, Commerce, and Mrs. Burna Walker and Miss Wanda Ackman, both of Overland; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Bridges, Peddle, Miss., and Mrs. Mildred Ladreiter, New Wells; 11 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 11 great-stepgrandchildren.

A son preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 7 tonight at the Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Glenn Cummings officiating. Burial will be in the New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.

Pallbearers will be Don and Erlis Ruehling, Kenneth Chapman, Clarance Ackman, Dilmon Reisenbichler and Bob Onderdonk.
