Gipsy Mae Clontz, age 78 of Asheboro, joined her heavenly father on New Year's Day 2012.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from noon until 1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home 437 Sunset Ave. Asheboro, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Marion Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.
Gipsy was one of seven children born to Ernest and Lillie Callahan Clontz of Mt. Airy, NC.
After her husband retired in 1968 from the US Marines, she and her family settled in her beloved town of Asheboro. She retired from Randolph County Department of Social Services as a Welfare Fraud Investigator in 1998. After retirement, Gipsy continued to use her investigative skills as a licensed private investigator. Despite initial reluctance from her family, Gipsy, with a .38 Special by her side, thoroughly enjoyed this new adventurous and exciting career.
Ms. Clontz is a member of First Baptist Church of Asheboro and the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She loved cooking and all things family. Her hobbies included gardening, entertaining and she was an avid card player, involved with many Bridge Clubs over the years.
She is preceded in death by her husbands: Ray Moriarity and Roger Clifton; son: Kenneth Reid Moriarity and brothers: Jasper Clontz and James Clontz.
Gipsy leaves behind her loving family, daughter: Shelia Parnell of Burlington, NC; daughter and her husband: Amy and David Micka of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter and her husband: Laura and Bobby Hathaway of Graham, NC; grandchildren: Brent Parnell of Mebane, NC; Brooke Flood and husband Duane of Graham, NC; Kirby Micka and Katherine Micka of Asheboro, NC; and great grandchildren: Dexter Flood and Dylan Flood of Graham, NC. Also surviving: sister: Charlene Williams of Hickory, NC; brothers: Junior Clontz and Brodis Clontz of Advance, NC; and brother: J.C. Clontz of Mocksville, NC.
