Janie L. Barnes, 73 of Huntington, formerly of South Broadway Street, passed away at 7:35 am on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at The Heritage of Huntington. She worked as a typesetter for many years with various companies, including 25 years with Noll Printing. She attended the Bible studies and worship services at The Heritage of Huntington. She enjoyed reading, traveling, working puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was born on January 1, 1938 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, a daughter of Leonard G. and Ruby (Porter) Harmon.

She was united in marriage to James E. Barnes in August of 1972. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son: Gene (and wife, Carole) Harmon of Gladstone, MI; a daughter: Jami M. Faulkner of Fort Wayne; a stepson: Robert W. "Bob" Barnes of Columbia City; a sister: Debra (Terry) Watts of Marion; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Ruby Harmon, a brother: Ronald Harmon and a sister: Betty Prochnow.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Bill Rapp officiating.

Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
