Cecil M. Blackhurst
Cecil M. "Blackie" Blackhurst, 85, of Springfield died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Hospital Hospice.
Mr. Blackhurst was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Aug. 11, 1903, the son of Hyrum M. and Eleanor Mary Mitchell Blackhurst. His first wife, Evelyn Barnes Blackhurst, preceded him in death. He was married to Margaret Lukeman in 1950 in San Diego, Calif., who survives. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A resident of Springfield since 1980, Mr. Blackhurst moved from Utah in 1922 to California where he resided until 1980. At the time of his retirement in 1976, he was executive secretary of the Southern California Pharmaceutical Association.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to his wife, surviving are one son, Don C. Blackhurst of San Jose, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Wallace Blackhurst of Spokane, Wash.; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bishop Brad Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Franklin.
Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
