Mrs. Sarah Gertrude Adams, 84, of LaGrange passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at her home.

Mrs. Adams was born May 22, 1924, in Chambers County, daughter of the late Benjamin and Nancy Elizabeth Wood Higby. She had lived here most of her life and was a member of Dunson Baptist Church. She worked for the Hillside Plant of Callaway Mills and was the first woman dolpher for the company. She and her husband worked together at the LaGrange Theatre. Mrs.

Adams had worked for Eckerds/ Rite-Aid Drug Store since 1972.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Debbie Adams of Anniston, AL, Hilton Adams, and Woody and Pam Adams, all of Palmer, TN; daughter, Connie E. Adams of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Heath of LaGrange, and Irene Shelnutt of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Waymon Adams, and two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 Thursday at Dunson Baptist Church with Rev. S. T. Janney officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 until 9:00.
