Ethel "Mickie" Newman, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Broken Arrow Nursing Home in Broken Arrow.
Memorial services will be set at a later date with burial to be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Arrangements are under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
She was born June 12, 1920, in Spies Switch, Texas, near Ravenna, in Fannin County, Texas, the daughter and youngest child of Ollie W. and Ethel B. (Brock) Harrison.
The former Ethel Hazel " Mickie" Harrison was a 1936 graduate of Goodland Indian School in Hugo.
She married Salvo Aubrey "Mutt" Newman Nov. 12, 1938, in Hugo. He preceded her in death. They moved to McAlester in 1946, and to Broken Arrow in 1994. They owned and operated Newman Construction until 1980.

Survivors include daughters and husband; grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by husband, Mutt, her parents; siblings, Cecil Clyde, Mary Leta Brawner, Paul, Jack, Edith Furlong, Bruce, Samuel Howard, Ophia Lee Johnson, and numerous friends.
