Robert L. "Bob" Adrian, 71, of Gering, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 13, 2009 at his home. His funeral service will be held Monday 18, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Gering Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Mead officiating. Interment will be at the West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established at the Gering Baptist Church.
Robert was born on July 23, 1937 to Fred and Mrytle (Redstein) Adrian in LaCrosse, Wis. He received his early education at Mason City, Iowa, and then graduated at LaCrosse High School in 1957. He grew up with his special cousin, Virginia Nielson, who became like a sister to him. In 1960, he joined the US Army stationed in Germany until 1963, where he was discharged. He then joined his family residing in Scottsbluff. There he started working at the Lockwood Corp. in 1964. He married Carol Henglefelt on Feb. 6, 1965, and to this union they had two children. In 1971, he took over farming in the Gering Valley area until 1983, where he then went to work for Packerland Packing Co. where he worked for fifteen years before retiring in 1999. He loved collecting antiques, watching sports and fishing, but his true love was his family and his grandchildren, and going to the coffee shop with his friends. Survivors include his wife, Carol, daughters; Michelle (John) Zwick, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Debra (Justin) Bernhardt of Gering, grandchildren; Austin Zwick and Addy Zwick, of Cincinnati, Ohio; aunt, Lois Hall of Long Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
