James Barnes Oldest Lobo Resident Dies
Strathroy, Jan. 25 -
James Barnes, well-know gardener of Lobo Township, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alfred Fonger, lot six, concession seven, Lobo, in his 95th year. Mr. Barnes was born in England, coming to Lobo Township 65 years ago, and was the last remaining member of a family of 12. For the past 14 years he had made his home with his daughter. Mr. Barnes was the oldest resident of the township.
Surviving him are one son and five daughters, Dr. Robert Barnes, V.S. and Miss Ellen Barnes, of Ottawa; Mrs H. C. Barnes, Mrs. T.H. Gregory and Mrs. Fred Churchill, of London and Mrs. Alfred Fonger of Lobo Township.
A private funeral will he held from the residents of his daughter Mrs. Fonger, Lobo, on Thursday afternoon with a service at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. A. Gray, of the New Christian Church, Poplar Hill. Interment will be in the Friends Burying Ground, Poplar Hill.
