VIRGINIA LOUISE PARKHURST was the daughter of Etta (Bushnell) and Reuben Pitcher Parkhurst. She was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Aurora, IL. She graduated from Aurora West High School in 1941. She worked for many years at the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad in Chicago where she met her husband in 1942. She married Richard G. Moran, son of Mae (Mary Cecilia Hett) and Patrick John Moran of Chicago in River Forest, IL. They had one child.
In 1955, Virginia and Dick bought the Edgewater Restaurant in Montgomery, IL which Virginia ran for many years. After selling it in 1962 she became a manager at the Toll Gate Inn Restaurant in North Aurora, retiring in 1976.
She was a devoted grandmother of two and cherished her time with them. In 1986 she became paralyzed with Multiple Sclerosis and was cared for by her husband, her niece Debra, Mabel Collins and Wanda Yajenska and helped by many of her other beloved nieces and nephews. She passed away quietly in 1995 with her only child by her side a few days after surgery for a perforated duodenal ulcer. She was a very generous and accepting person even during her 9 years of being incapacitated; she loved to have company and waited patiently for her family and friends to come visit.
Her hobbies were cooking and playing pinochle, she loved to play with her sister-in-law Marian and her husband Ray Mueller who visited her often. She loved company and hosting family gatherings. She would invite anyone who didn't have a place to go, to her home for a lovingly prepared scrumptious meal. She also hosted the annual October birthday party (husband Dick, brother-in-law Ray Mueller, son-in-law and niece Mary Jeanne).
She had one brother James Clark Parkhurst (Jessie) and two sisters Elizabeth (Howard Lange) and Anita (George Popp), one child, 2 grandsons, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many very close friends.
