Findley H. Burns, age 87 of Wood Hi Community died, January 16, 2004. He Was born October 14, 1916 in DeWitt County, Texas to the late Henry Harrison and Pocahontas Burns. Mr. Burns loved baseball and played for a Gulf Coast League. He also owned his own Oilfield compnay, Wood Hi Co.

Mr. Burns is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Burns, two sons, Roy Dan Burns and Joe Bob Burns and his parents.

Survivors include his son, Pat Burns and Linda Avants of Victoria; grandchildren, Lesley Wright and husband Greg, Tracy Burns, Dodie Powell and husband Mike, Kelly Wyatt and husband Scott, Jeanie Borden and husband John all of Victoria, Debra Lynn Burns and Jeffrey Todd Burns both of Las Vegas, and Patricia Ann Whiddon and husband Tony of Kennesaw, Georgia; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Catherine Davis of Houston.

Graveside services for Mr. Burns will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday (1-20-04) at the Wood Hi Cemetery with Genie Fuhrman officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society @ 4401 Lilac, Victoria, TX 77901, the American Lung Association @ P.O.Box 27170, Austin, TX 78755 or the Epilepsy Foundation.
