FRANK S.Adkins, age 94, of Cape May Court House, NJ and a longtime resident of Stone Harbor, NJ died on December 1, 2011.
He was born in Detroit, MI the son of the late Frank B. and Myrtle Lee Stone Adkins and had been an area resident since 1969. He was a Cadet at VPI for two years and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon Institute (formerly Carnegie Tech) in Pittsburgh, PA. He was an electrical engineer and retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Pittsburgh after many years of service.
He was a member and former Senior Warden of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Frank ("Hap") was a ham radio operator; was a former member of the Stone Harbor Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing; he volunteered in Pastoral Care at Cape Regional Medical Center; he was a member of the Dallas F.&A.M. Lodge of Pittsburgh, PA and a member of the IEEE. He enjoyed tinkering with anything in electronics and playing the piano.
He is survived by his daughter, Helena L. (John) Berger of Cape May Court House and a son, Frank S., Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances "Penny" in 1993.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, December 6, 2011, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 10 am at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 95th St. and Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ. Interment will be in the Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 9425 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247.
